Global cucumber and gherkin imports amounted to 2,553 thousand tonnes in 2015, approximately equating the previous year level.Overall, the global cucumber and gherkin imports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2009, when the output figure increased by +15% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global cucumber and gherkin imports attained its maximum volume of 2,565 thousand tonnes in 2014, leveling off in the following year.

In value terms, global cucumber and gherkin imports amounted to $2,305 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global cucumber and gherkin imports increased robustly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +2.6%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

From 2007 to 2015, the most notable growth rates of cucumber and gherkin imports among the main importing countries was attained by Belgium (+9.9% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States (659 million USD), Germany (516 million USD) and the United Kingdom (184 million USD) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2015, together accounting for 59% of total imports.

Belgium (+9.5% per year) had the highest growth rates of cucumber and gherkin imports among the main importing countries over the last eight years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
