Which Country Imports the Most Chandeliers in the World?

IndexBox has just published a new report "World: Chalk And Dolomite ; Market Report. Analysis and Forecast to 2025". Here is a summary of the report's key findings.

In 2016, approx. 2.6M tonnes of dolomite were imported worldwide; falling by ;4.0% against the previous year level. In general, dolomite imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010, an increase of 31% year;to;year. Global dolomite import peaked of 3.5M tonnes in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, dolomite imports amounted to $142M in 2016. In general, dolomite imports continue to indicate a temperate contraction. Global dolomite import peaked of $220M in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

Dolomite Imports By Country

In 2016, France (600K tonnes), distantly followed by Belgium (282K tonnes), the Netherlands (217K tonnes), Germany (191K tonnes), Poland (158K tonnes), and Finland (142K tonnes) were the main importers of dolomite, together comprising 62% of total imports. The following importers ; Sweden (109K tonnes), Greece (90K tonnes), Denmark (66K tonnes), Belarus (61K tonnes), Colombia (60K tonnes), and Argentina (55K tonnes) together made up 17% of total imports.

France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. At the same time, Poland (+10.8%), Sweden (+7.5%), Finland (+5.6%), Belarus (+4.4%), and Denmark (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +10.8% from 2007;2016. Colombia, Argentina, and Greece experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Belgium (;1.6%), Germany (;3.5%), and the Netherlands (;4.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2016, the share of the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium increased by 4%, 3%, and 2% percentage points, while Sweden (;2.0%), Finland (;2.1%), and Poland (;3.7%) saw their share reduced. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest dolomite markets worldwide were the Netherlands ($19M), Belgium ($15M) and Germany ($12M), together accounting for 32% of global imports.France, Finland, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Belarus, Argentina, Colombia and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.

Colombia (+236.8% per year) experienced the highest growth rate of dolomite imports, among the main importing countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dolomite Import Prices By Country

The average dolomite import price stood at $55 per tonne in 2016, reducing by ;1.8% against the previous year. In general, dolomite import price continues to indicate a moderate curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008, when import increased by 7% from the previous year level. In that year, average dolomite import price reached its maximum level of $72 per tonne. From 2009 to 2016, growth of average dolomite import price stood at a somewhat lower level.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was the Netherlands ($86 per tonne), while Greece ($0 per kg) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of dolomite import prices was attained by Argentina (+3.2% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Global chandelier imports stood at 5.8M tonnes in 2016, approximately equating the previous year figure. Overall, chandelier imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013, when imports increased by 6% from the previous year level. In that year, global chandelier imports reached its maximum volume of 5.9M tonnes. From 2014 to 2016, growth of global chandelier imports failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, chandelier imports stood at $43B in 2016. Overall, it indicated a prominent increase from 2007 to 2016: the total imports value increased at an average annual rate of +0.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on the result of 2016, chandelier imports decreased by -0.1% against its level of 2014. Global chandelier import peaked of $43B in 2014- afterwards, it flattened through to 2016.

Chandelier Imports By Country

In 2016, China (2.4M tonnes) was the largest importer for chandelier, mixed up 42% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the U.S. (473K tonnes), committing 8% share of total chandelier imports. Germany (243K tonnes), the UK (187K tonnes), France (123K tonnes), Mexico (121K tonnes), the Netherlands (104K tonnes), and Iran (88K tonnes) followed a long way behind this figure.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. At the same time, Iran (+23.0%), and Mexico (+4.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iran emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +23.0% from 2007-2016. The UK, the Netherlands, and Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, France (-2.2%), and the U.S. (-3.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2016, the share of the U.S. increased by 3% percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the U.S. ($11B) constitutes the largest market for imported chandelier worldwide, making up 26% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany ($3.3B), with the share of 8% of global imports. It was followed by the UK, with the share of 5%.

From 2007 to 2016, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value of chandelier imports in the U.S. expanded at +6.0%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates: Germany (+5.7% per year) and the UK (+3.2% per year).

Chandelier Import Prices By Country

The average chandelier import price stood at $7,451 per tonne in 2016, import ,therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year level. Overall, it indicated a strong expansion from 2007 to 2016: the import price value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on the result of 2016, chandelier import price decreased by -0.7% against its level of 2014. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010, when import price increased by 17% from the previous year level. Global chandelier import peaked of $7,507 per tonne in 2014- afterwards, it flattened through to 2016.

There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst major importing countries. In 2016, the country with the highest import prices was the U.S. ($24 per kg), while China ($198 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of chandelier import prices was attained by China (+12.6% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
