Which Country Imports the Most Ceramic Household Articles in the World?

Cement Plate Imports By Country

The UK (7.8K tonnes), the Netherlands (7.3K tonnes), and China (6.9K tonnes) represented roughly 33% of total imports of cement plate in 2016. Israel (4.2K tonnes) occupied the second position in the ranking, followed by India (3.7K tonnes), and Japan (3.4K tonnes). All these countries together occupied near 17% share of total imports. The following importers ; Austria (2.7K tonnes), the U.S. (2.7K tonnes), Germany (2.5K tonnes), Luxembourg (2.3K tonnes), Malaysia (2.3K tonnes), and Sweden (2.1K tonnes) together made up 22% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of cement plate imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by the UK (+25.0% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest cement plate markets worldwide were the U.S. ($783M), Germany ($734M) and the Netherlands ($690M), with a combined 38% share of global imports.Japan, China, India, the UK, Austria, Sweden, Israel, Luxembourg and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.

India (+11.8% per year) experienced the highest growth rate of cement plate imports, in terms of the main importing countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cement Plate Import Prices By Country

In 2016, the average import price for cement plate amounted to $89 per kg, reducing by ;5.2% against the previous year. Overall, it indicated a mild increase from 2007 to 2016: the import price value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on the result of 2016, cement plate import price decreased by ;25.8% against its level of 2013. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011, when import increased by 33% against the previous year level. China (1.9M tonnes) dominates in ceramic household article imports structure, recording 1.9M tonnes, which was approx. 57% of total imports in 2016. Italy (122K tonnes), the U.S. (89K tonnes), Germany (80K tonnes), the UK (56K tonnes), and United Arab Emirates (53K tonnes) followed a long way behind this figure.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. At the same time, Italy (+5.0%), and the U.S. (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Italy emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +5.0% from 2007-2016. By contrast, the UK (-2.0%), Germany (-3.1%), and United Arab Emirates (-8.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. United Arab Emirates (2%) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the U.S. ($437M), Germany ($244M) and the UK ($170M) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2016, with a combined 22% share of global imports. These countries were followed by Italy, United Arab Emirates and China, which together accounted for a further 7%.

China (+23.0% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the ceramic household article imports, among the main importing countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

The average ceramic household article import price stood at $1,187 per tonne in 2016, stabilizing at the previous year level. Over the period from 2007 to 2016 it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%.The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when it surged by 12% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average ceramic household article import price reached its maximum level of $1,204 per tonne in 2015, falling back in the following year.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was the U.S. ($4,894 per tonne), while China ($25 per tonne) was among the lowest.
