Glass Container Imports By Country

The imports of the twelve major importers of glass container, namely China, the U.S., Germany, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Czech Republic, represented more than half of total import.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of glass container imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by Russia (+10.3% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the U.S. ($1.5B), France ($1B) and Spain ($487M) appeared as the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2016, with a combined 33% share of global imports.

The U.S. (+4.4% per year) had the highest growth rate of glass container imports, in terms of the main importing countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Glass Container Import Prices By Country

In 2016, the average import price for glass container amounted to $467 per tonne, reducing by ;2.3% against the previous year. Over the period from 2007 to 2016 it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%.The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008, when import price increased by 16% from the previous year level. Global glass container import peaked of $519 per tonne in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst major importing countries. In 2016, the country with the highest import prices was the U.S. ($957 per tonne), while China ($25 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of glass container import prices was attained by France (+4.5% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2016, the U.S. (70K tonnes), and China (51K tonnes) were the largest importers of corset in the globe, together creating 29% of total imports. China, Hong Kong SAR (27K tonnes) held the second position in the ranking, followed by the UK (21K tonnes). All these countries together took approx. 12% share of total imports. The following importers - Japan (18K tonnes), Germany (15K tonnes), Indonesia (15K tonnes), France (13K tonnes), Bangladesh (12K tonnes), Sri Lanka (12K tonnes), Australia (7.7K tonnes), and Spain (7K tonnes) together made up 24% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of corset imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by Australia (+11.2% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the U.S. ($2.8B) constitutes the largest market for imported corset worldwide, making up 25% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by China, Hong Kong SAR ($916M), with the share of 8% of global imports. It was followed by Japan, with the share of 7%.

From 2007 to 2016, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value of corset imports in the U.S. stood at +3.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates: China, Hong Kong SAR (+1.2% per year) and Japan (+5.1% per year).

Global corset import peaked of $30 per kg in 2014- however, from 2015 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst major importing countries. In 2016, the country with the highest import prices was Germany ($52 per kg), while China ($2,690 per tonne) was among the lowest.
