China (188K tonnes), Germany (133K tonnes), the U.S. (114K tonnes), Mexico (110K tonnes), Indonesia (75K tonnes), South Korea (57K tonnes), Japan (49K tonnes), Turkey (48K tonnes), Czech Republic (39K tonnes), Italy (37K tonnes), United Arab Emirates (35K tonnes), and France (34K tonnes) represented roughly 58% of total imports of board and console in 2016.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of board and console imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by Indonesia (+20.2% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the U.S. ($11B), Germany ($5.8B) and China ($4.8B) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2016, with a combined 39% share of global imports. These countries were followed by Mexico, France, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Italy, Czech Republic, Turkey and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 18%.

Indonesia (+21.2% per year) recorded the highest growth rate of board and console imports, among the main importing countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Board And Console Import Prices By Country

The average board and console import price stood at $34 per kg in 2016, approximately mirroring the previous year level. Over the period from 2007 to 2016 it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%.The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when import increased by 14% y-o-y. Global board and console import peaked of $36 per kg in 2013- however, from 2014 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was the U.S. ($93 per kg), while Indonesia ($6,176 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of board and console import prices was attained by Mexico (+6.9% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
