Which Country Imports the Most Blankets and Traveling Rugs in the World?

In 2016, the amount of bike imported worldwide stood at 700K tonnes, import ,therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year figure. Overall, it indicated a moderate expansion from 2007 to 2016: the total imports volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on the result of 2016, bike imports increased by +1.4% against its level of 2014. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008, when it surged by 98% year;to;year. In that year, global bike imports attained its maximum volume of 1.1M tonnes. From 2009 to 2016, growth of global bike imports failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, bike imports amounted to $7.8B in 2016. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2007 to 2016; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations in certain years. Global bike import peaked of $8.6B in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Bike Imports By Country

In 2016, the U.S. (112K tonnes), distantly followed by Japan (54K tonnes), the UK (45K tonnes), and Germany (41K tonnes) were the largest importers of bike, together committing 36% of total imports. The Netherlands (29K tonnes), France (27K tonnes), South Korea (24K tonnes), Belgium (21K tonnes), Indonesia (20K tonnes), Russia (20K tonnes), Canada (17K tonnes), and Ghana (17K tonnes) followed a long way behind this figure.

From 2007 to 2016, average annual rates of growth with regard to bike imports into the U.S. stood at nan%. At the same time, Japan (+424.3%), Belgium (+22.0%), Canada (+15.5%), the Netherlands (+4.1%), and Ghana (+3.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Japan emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +424.3% from 2007;2016. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, South Korea (;1.3%), Indonesia (;2.3%), Russia (;3.1%), the UK (;5.5%), and France (;6.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2016, the share of the UK, and France increased by 4%, and 3% percentage points, while Canada (;1.8%), Belgium (;2.5%), and Japan (;7.7%) saw their share reduced. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the U.S. ($1.5B) constitutes the largest market for imported bike worldwide, making up 19% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Japan ($704M), with the share of 9% of global imports. It was followed by Germany, with the share of 9%.

From 2007 to 2016, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value of bike imports in the U.S. expanded at +2.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (+1.1% per year) and Germany (;0.0% per year).

Bike Import Prices By Country

In 2016, the average import price for bike amounted to $11 per kg, going down by ;7.4% against the previous year. Overall, bike import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014, when import increased by 19% from the previous year level. In that year, average bike import price reached its maximum level of $12 per kg. From 2015 to 2016, growth of average bike import price failed to regain its strength.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was the Netherlands ($17 per kg), while Indonesia ($692 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of bike import prices was attained by Russia (+8.7% per year), while the other global leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when it surged by 6% from the previous year level. Blanket Imports By Country

In 2016, China (656K tonnes) was the key importer for blanket, creating 41% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the U.S. (194K tonnes), creating 12% share of total blanket imports. The following importers - United Arab Emirates (64K tonnes), Saudi Arabia (53K tonnes), South Korea (52K tonnes), Iran (33K tonnes), India (32K tonnes), Germany (27K tonnes), and Japan (25K tonnes) together made up 18% of total imports.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. At the same time, India (+6.6%), the U.S. (+5.9%), Iran (+3.4%), Germany (+3.1%), Saudi Arabia (+1.5%), and South Korea (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +6.6% from 2007-2016. United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Japan (-2.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the U.S. (-4.9%) decreased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the U.S. ($1.1B) constitutes the largest market for imported blanket worldwide, making up 28% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Japan ($198M), with the share of 5% of global imports. It was followed by Germany, with the share of 4%.

In the U.S., blanket imports expanded at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the period from 2007-2016. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (-0.3% per year) and Germany (+4.1% per year).

In 2016, the average import price for blanket amounted to $2,380 per tonne, going down by -6.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2007 to 2016 it increased at an average annual rate of +2.5%.The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008, when import price increased by 11% against the previous year level. Over the period under review, average blanket import price reached its maximum level of $2,655 per tonne in 2014- however, from 2015 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was Japan ($8,006 per tonne), while China ($19 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of blanket import prices was attained by China (+22.8% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
