In 2016, the amount of balloon and dirigible imported worldwide stood at 1.6K tonnes, reducing by -9.3% against the previous year level. Overall, it indicated a mild growth from 2007 to 2016: the total imports volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on the result of 2016, balloon and dirigible imports decreased by -23.2% against its level of 2010. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when imports increased by 43% year-to-year. In that year, global balloon and dirigible imports attained its maximum volume of 2.1K tonnes. From 2011 to 2016, growth of global balloon and dirigible imports failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, balloon and dirigible imports totaled $51M in 2016. Overall, balloon and dirigible imports continue to indicate a mild drop. Global balloon and dirigible import peaked of $56M in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

Balloon And Dirigible Imports By Country

The imports of the four major importers of balloon and dirigible, namely Japan, the Netherlands, Yemen, and the U.S., represented more than third of total import. The following importers - Singapore (67 tonnes), Israel (48 tonnes), France (46 tonnes), Australia (45 tonnes), China (43 tonnes), Finland (42 tonnes), Germany (35 tonnes), and Spain (34 tonnes) together made up 23% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of balloon and dirigible imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by Yemen (+31.6% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the U.S. ($13M) constitutes the largest market for imported balloon and dirigible worldwide, making up 24% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany ($4.3M), with the share of 9% of global imports. It was followed by Australia, with the share of 7%.

In the U.S., balloon and dirigible imports stood at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2007-2016. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates: Germany (+0.4% per year) and Australia (-5.4% per year).

Balloon And Dirigible Import Prices By Country

In 2016, the average import price for balloon and dirigible amounted to $32 per kg, surging by 20% against the previous year. Overall, balloon and dirigible import price continues to indicate a measured setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016, when it surged by 20% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, average balloon and dirigible import price attained its maximum level of $41 per kg in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst major importing countries. In 2016, the country with the highest import prices was Germany ($123 per kg), while Yemen ($170 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of balloon and dirigible import prices was attained by Israel (+15.8% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
