Global avocado imports amounted to 1,738 thousand tonnes in 2015, growing by +13.3% against the previous year level. Overall, the global avocado imports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, fluctuated wildly throughout the analyzed period. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014, when the output figure increased by +22% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global avocado imports reached its maximum volume in 2015, and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, global avocado imports amounted to $3,731 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global avocado imports increased robustly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +13.3%. This trend pattern, however, fluctuated wildly throughout the analyzed period.

Avocado Imports By Country

The country with the largest volume of the avocado imports in absolute volumes was the United States (867 thousand tonnes), accounting for 50% of global imports. It was followed by the Netherlands (144 thousand tonnes), with a share of 8% of global imports. Moreover, avocado imports in the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest importer, the Netherlands (144 thousand tonnes), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by France with a share of 7%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of avocado imports in the United States stood at +12.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual growth rates: the Netherlands (+14.0% per year) and France (+0.6% per year).

In value terms, the country with the largest volume of imports of avocado in absolute volumes was the United States (1,703 million USD), making up 46% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the Netherlands (309 million USD), with a share of 8% of global imports. Moreover, avocado imports in the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest importer, the Netherlands (309 million USD), sixfold. It was followed by France with a share of 8%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of avocado imports in the United States was at +13.6%. The remaining importing countries experienced the following average annual growth rates: the Netherlands (+15.8% per year) and France (+4.1% per year).
