In 2016, China (1.6M tonnes), distantly followed by Mexico (837K tonnes), Germany (507K tonnes), and Thailand (369K tonnes) were the major importers of pump, together mixed up 43% of total imports. The following importers ; Italy (345K tonnes), the Netherlands (297K tonnes), Japan (280K tonnes), South Korea (204K tonnes), France (177K tonnes), Belgium (173K tonnes), Turkey (142K tonnes), and Brazil (129K tonnes) together made up 23% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of pump imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by the Netherlands (+16.6% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($4.9B), Germany ($4.3B) and Mexico ($3.3B) appeared as the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2016, together comprising 18% of global imports.France, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, Belgium and Brazil lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

Thailand (+8.2% per year) experienced the highest rates of growth with regard to the pump imports, in terms of the main importing countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Pump Import Prices By Country

The average pump import price stood at $8,958 per tonne in 2016, standing approx. at the previous year level. Overall, pump import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010, an increase of 17% year;to;year. Global pump import peaked of $9,713 per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was France ($13 per kg), while China ($2,981 per tonne) was among the lowest.
