Which Country Exports the Most X-Ray Apparatus in the World?

Global x-ray apparatus exports stood at 200K tonnes in 2016, rising by 5% against the previous year figure. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the period from 2007 to 2016; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when exports increased by 16% against the previous year level. Global x-ray apparatus export peaked of 210K tonnes in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, x-ray apparatus exports stood at $20B in 2016. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2007 to 2016; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed over the period under review. Global x-ray apparatus export peaked of $22B in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

X-Ray Apparatus Exports By Country

In 2016, China (69K tonnes) was the largest exporter for x-ray apparatus, creating 35% of total exports. Germany (30K tonnes) took a 15% share (based on tonnes) of global x-ray apparatus exports, which put it in second place, following the U.S. (6%), France (6%), Japan (5%), and the UK (5%). The Netherlands (8.2K tonnes), Malaysia (6.5K tonnes), Italy (5.5K tonnes), Belgium (5.4K tonnes), South Korea (4.6K tonnes), and Finland (3.4K tonnes) took the mild share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2016, average annual rates of growth with regard to x-ray apparatus exports from China stood at +22.0%. At the same time, Malaysia (+31.0%), Belgium (+21.0%), South Korea (+13.7%), and Finland (+9.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +31.0% from 2007-2016. France, Italy, and Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the UK (-1.1%), Japan (-1.7%), the Netherlands (-6.5%), and the U.S. (-7.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2016, the share of the U.S., and the Netherlands increased by 6%, and 3% percentage points, while South Korea (-1.6%), Belgium (-2.2%), Malaysia (-3.0%), and China (-28.8%) saw their share reduced. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest x-ray apparatus markets worldwide were Germany ($4.7B), the U.S. ($4.1B) and the Netherlands ($1.6B), together accounting for 51% of global exports. These countries were followed by Japan, China, France, the UK, South Korea, Italy, Finland, Belgium and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further 35%.

South Korea (+16.5% per year) recorded the highest growth rate of x-ray apparatus exports, among the main exporting countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

X-Ray Apparatus Export Prices By Country

In 2016, the average export price for x-ray apparatus amounted to $101 per kg, declining by -5.6% against the previous year. In general, x-ray apparatus export price continues to indicate a temperate deduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008, when export price increased by 6% year-to-year. Global x-ray apparatus export peaked of $130 per kg in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Export prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest export prices was the U.S. ($317 per kg), while China ($20 per kg) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of x-ray apparatus export prices was attained by the U.S. (+10.2% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
