Which Country Exports the Most Unwrought Refined Lead in the World?

In 2016, the amount of refined lead exported worldwide totaled 2.9M tonnes, declining by -2.0% against the previous year level. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2007 to 2016; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009, an increase of 9% against the previous year level. Over the period under review, global refined lead exports attained its maximum volume of 2.9M tonnes in 2015, falling back in the following year.

In value terms, refined lead exports totaled $5.6B in 2016. In general, refined lead exports continue to indicate a modest expansion. In that year, global refined lead exports reached its maximum level of $6.3B. From 2012 to 2016, growth of global refined lead exports stood at a somewhat lower level.

Refined Lead Exports By Country

The exports of the twelve major exporters of refined lead, namely Australia, South Korea, Canada, the UK, Belgium, Russia, Kazakhstan, Germany, Mexico, India, Bulgaria, and Sweden, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of refined lead exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by South Korea (+29.3% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest refined lead markets worldwide were Australia ($824M), South Korea ($767M) and Canada ($539M), together accounting for 38% of global exports.

South Korea (+25.5% per year) had the highest growth rate of refined lead exports, in terms of the main exporting countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Refined Lead Export Prices By Country

In 2016, the average export price for refined lead amounted to $1,958 per tonne, coming up by 5% against the previous year. Overall, refined lead export price continues to indicate a moderate shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when export increased by 23% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, average refined lead export price reached its maximum level of $2,442 per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

Average export prices varied somewhat amongst major exporting countries. In 2016, major exporting countries recorded the following export prices: in Germany ($2,169 per tonne) and the UK ($2,101 per tonne), while Mexico ($1,537 per tonne) and Kazakhstan ($1,776 per tonne) were among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of refined lead export prices was attained by Canada (-0.9% per year), while the other global leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
