In 2016, the amount of textile machinery exported worldwide totaled 26K tonnes, coming up by 22% against the previous year figure. In general, textile machinery exports continue to indicate a moderate contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016, an increase of 22% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, global textile machinery exports attained its maximum volume of 33K tonnes in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, textile machinery exports stood at $594M in 2016. Overall, textile machinery exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, global textile machinery exports attained its maximum level of $942M in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Textile Machinery Exports By Country

China (6K tonnes), Germany (5.4K tonnes), Italy (3.7K tonnes), Japan (2.5K tonnes), South Korea (1.9K tonnes), the UK (1.8K tonnes), and the U.S. (1.3K tonnes) represented roughly 87% of total exports of textile machinery in 2016.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of textile machinery exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by Italy (+10.1% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest textile machinery markets worldwide were Germany ($194M), China ($163M) and Italy ($62M), with a combined 71% share of global exports.

China (+6.8% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the textile machinery exports, in terms of the main exporting countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Textile Machinery Export Prices By Country

The average textile machinery export price stood at $23 per kg in 2016, coming down by -7.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2007 to 2016 it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%.The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011, when export increased by 33% from the previous year level. In that year, average textile machinery export price attained its maximum level of $31 per kg. From 2012 to 2016, growth of average textile machinery export price stood at a somewhat lower level.

There were significant differences in the average export prices amongst major exporting countries. In 2016, the country with the highest export prices was Germany ($36 per kg), while the UK ($3,885 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of textile machinery export prices was attained by Japan (+5.6% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
