In 2016, the global exports of steam turbine totaled 186K tonnes, going down by -11.7% against the previous year figure. In general, steam turbine exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011, when export increased by 18% year-to-year. In that year, global steam turbine exports attained its maximum volume of 259K tonnes. From 2012 to 2016, growth of global steam turbine exports failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, steam turbine exports totaled $5.4B in 2016. Overall, steam turbine exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, global steam turbine exports reached its maximum level of $8.8B in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

Steam Turbine Exports By Country

In 2016, China (47K tonnes), and Japan (40K tonnes) represented the main exporters of steam turbine in the globe, together reaching near 47% of total exports. Germany (21K tonnes) ranks second globally in steam turbine exports with a 11% share, following Italy (7%), and Poland (5%). South Korea (7.4K tonnes), Czech Republic (6.3K tonnes), Romania (5.8K tonnes), Austria (5.5K tonnes), Indonesia (4.5K tonnes), and France (3.6K tonnes) followed a long way behind this figure.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of steam turbine exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by Romania (+13.9% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Japan ($1.2B), Germany ($833M) and China ($763M) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2016, together accounting for 53% of global exports.Italy, Czech Republic, France, Poland, South Korea, Austria, Indonesia and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.

South Korea (+12.7% per year) experienced the highest rates of growth with regard to the steam turbine exports, in terms of the main exporting countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Steam Turbine Export Prices By Country

In 2016, the average export price for steam turbine amounted to $29 per kg, coming up by 2% against the previous year. Over the last nine years it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%.The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008, when export increased by 25% y-o-y. Global steam turbine export peaked of $37 per kg in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

There were significant differences in the average export prices amongst major exporting countries. In 2016, the country with the highest export prices was France ($48 per kg), while Romania ($3,759 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of steam turbine export prices was attained by South Korea (+7.2% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
