In 2016, approx. 5.9M tonnes of tractor were exported worldwide; dropping by -15.8% against the previous year level. In general, tractor exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when exports increased by 27% from the previous year level. Global tractor export peaked of 8.1M tonnes in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, tractor exports totaled $45B in 2016. Overall, tractor exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Global tractor export peaked of $56B in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

Tractor Exports By Country

Mexico (920K tonnes), Germany (894K tonnes), the U.S. (757K tonnes), the Netherlands (578K tonnes), France (424K tonnes), China (285K tonnes), Japan (241K tonnes), Italy (210K tonnes), the UK (197K tonnes), Sweden (150K tonnes), Spain (148K tonnes), and Poland (126K tonnes) represented roughly 83% of total exports of tractor in 2016.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of tractor exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by Mexico (+17.0% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest tractor markets worldwide were Germany ($8.4B), Mexico ($5.5B) and the Netherlands ($5.3B), together accounting for 42% of global exports.

Mexico (+17.2% per year) had the highest rates of growth with regard to the tractor exports, in terms of the main exporting countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Tractor Export Prices By Country

The average tractor export price stood at $7,624 per tonne in 2016, surging by 3% against the previous year. Overall, tractor export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011, when export price increased by 16% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, average tractor export price attained its maximum level of $8,225 per tonne in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

There were significant differences in the average export prices amongst major exporting countries. In 2016, the country with the highest export prices was Sweden ($9,936 per tonne), while China ($3,576 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of tractor export prices was attained by the Netherlands (+5.0% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
