Which Country Exports the Most Rapeseed Oil in the World?

Global rapeseed oil exports amounted to 6,703 thousand tonnes in 2015, remaining constant against the previous year level. Overall, the global rapeseed oil exports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010, when the output figure increased by +22% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global rapeseed oil exports reached its maximum volume in 2015, and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, global exports amounted to $5,698 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global exports increased tangibly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +5.3%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Rapeseed Oil Imports By Country

The country with the largest volume of the rapeseed oil exports in absolute volumes was Canada (2,493 thousand tonnes), accounting for 37% of global exports. It was followed by Germany (869 thousand tonnes), with a share of 13% of global exports. Moreover, rapeseed oil exports in Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest exporter, Germany, threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by the Netherlands with a share of 6%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of rapeseed oil exports in Canada stood at +8.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual growth rates: Germany (+9.2% per year) and the Netherlands (-1.5% per year).

In value terms, the country with the largest volume of exports of rapeseed oil in absolute volumes was Canada (2,125 million USD), making up 37% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany (722 million USD), with a share of 13% of global exports. Moreover, rapeseed oil exports in Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest importer, Germany (722 million USD), threefold. It was followed by the Netherlands with a share of 6%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of rapeseed oil exports in Canada was at +7.8%. The remaining exporting countries experienced the following average annual growth rates: Germany (+7.3% per year) and the Netherlands (-2.4% per year).
