Which Country Exports the Most Pre-Fabricated Structural Components in the World?

In 2016, approx. 24M tonnes of non-metallic mineral product were exported worldwide; descending by -4.3% against the previous year figure. In general, non-metallic mineral product exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011, an increase of 18% against the previous year level. Over the period under review, global non-metallic mineral product exports reached its maximum volume of 25M tonnes in 2015, falling back in the following year.

In value terms, non-metallic mineral product exports totaled $7.8B in 2016. Overall, it indicated a strong increase from 2007 to 2016: the total exports value increased at an average annual rate of +0.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Global non-metallic mineral product export peaked of $8.3B in 2015, falling back in the following year.

Non-Metallic Mineral Product Exports By Country

China (4.2M tonnes), Germany (3.6M tonnes), and Malaysia (2.7M tonnes) represented roughly 44% of total exports of non-metallic mineral product in 2016. The Netherlands (1.6M tonnes) ranks second globally in non-metallic mineral product exports with a 7% share, following Belarus (6%), and Belgium (6%). Czech Republic (936K tonnes), Italy (642K tonnes), Poland (629K tonnes), Spain (477K tonnes), and Hungary (426K tonnes) occupied the minor share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of non-metallic mineral product exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by Malaysia (+12.6% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($2.1B) remains the largest non-metallic mineral product supplier in the world, making up 27% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany ($860M), with the share of 11% of global exports. It was followed by Spain, with the share of 6%.

In China, non-metallic mineral product exports expanded at an average annual rate of +20.8% over the period from 2007-2016. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates: Germany (+2.4% per year) and Spain (+4.3% per year).

Non-Metallic Mineral Product Export Prices By Country

In 2016, the average export price for non-metallic mineral product amounted to $323 per tonne, lowering by -2.1% against the previous year. Over the last nine years it increased at an average annual rate of +3.9%.The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013, when export increased by 17% y-o-y. In that year, average non-metallic mineral product export price reached its maximum level of $334 per tonne. From 2014 to 2016, growth of average non-metallic mineral product export price failed to regain its strength.

Export prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest export prices was Spain ($1,005 per tonne), while Belarus ($52 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of non-metallic mineral product export prices was attained by China (+13.6% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
