In 2016, Germany (X tonnes), followed by China (X tonnes), Poland (X tonnes), and Mexico (X tonnes) represented the key importers of plaster, together mixed up X% of total imports. Thailand (X tonnes), Spain (X tonnes), France (X tonnes), Bulgaria (X tonnes), Russia (X tonnes), Italy (X tonnes), Switzerland (X tonnes), and Austria (X tonnes) held the minor share of total imports.
Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. At the same time, Bulgaria (+X%), Russia (+X%), Switzerland (+X%), and Italy (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bulgaria emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2016. Thailand, China, Mexico, Poland, Spain, and Austria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, France (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the largest importers remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest plaster markets worldwide were France ($X), Switzerland ($X) and Germany ($X), together comprising X% of global imports. These countries were followed by Italy, Austria, Spain, Poland, China, Russia, Bulgaria, Mexico and Thailand, which together accounted for a further X%.
China (+X% per year) had the highest growth rate of plaster imports, in terms of the main importing countries, over the last X years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plaster Import Prices By Country
In 2016, the average import price for plaster amounted to $X per tonne, waning by -X% against the previous year. Overall, plaster import price continues to indicate a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011, when import increased by X% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, average plaster import price reached its maximum level of $X per tonne in 2008- however, from 2009 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.
There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst major importing countries. In 2016, the country with the highest import prices was Switzerland ($X per tonne), while Thailand ($X per tonne) was among the lowest.
From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of plaster import prices was attained by Thailand (+X% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
