Global nail and bolt exports stood at 1.8M tonnes in 2016, falling by -3.1% against the previous year figure. Overall, nail and bolt exports continue to indicate a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when exports increased by 9% y-o-y. Over the period under review, global nail and bolt exports attained its maximum volume of 2M tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, nail and bolt exports stood at $2.3B in 2016. In general, nail and bolt exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. In that year, global nail and bolt exports reached its maximum level of $2.8B. From 2009 to 2016, growth of global nail and bolt exports stood at a somewhat lower level.

Nail And Bolt Exports By Country

China (1M tonnes) prevails in nail and bolt exports structure, reaching 1M tonnes, which was approx. 58% of total exports in 2016. Poland (68K tonnes), Malaysia (63K tonnes), South Korea (53K tonnes), Oman (51K tonnes), Belarus (42K tonnes), Turkey (40K tonnes), the U.S. (34K tonnes), Germany (33K tonnes), Lithuania (31K tonnes), Canada (31K tonnes), and Mexico (28K tonnes) took the minor share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2016, average annual rates of growth with regard to nail and bolt exports from China stood at -2.5%. At the same time, Oman (+48.1%), Turkey (+18.3%), Malaysia (+11.8%), Mexico (+5.2%), and Lithuania (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +48.1% from 2007-2016. Poland, South Korea, and Belarus experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the U.S. (-1.2%), Canada (-1.3%), and Germany (-1.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (15%) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Turkey, Malaysia, and Oman saw its share reduced by -1.8%, -2.3%, and -2.8% from 2007 to 2016, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($1.1B) remains the largest nail and bolt supplier in the world, making up 49% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany ($106M), with the share of 5% of global exports. It was followed by Poland, with the share of 3%.

In China, nail and bolt exports stood at an average annual rate of +0.7% over the period from 2007-2016. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates: Germany (-2.0% per year) and Poland (-2.2% per year).

Nail And Bolt Export Prices By Country

In 2016, the average export price for nail and bolt amounted to $1,286 per tonne, lowering by -9.4% against the previous year. Over the last nine years it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%.The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008, an increase of 30% year-to-year. In that year, average nail and bolt export price attained its maximum level of $1,521 per tonne. From 2009 to 2016, growth of average nail and bolt export price stood at a somewhat lower level.

Export prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest export prices was Germany ($3,199 per tonne), while Belarus ($538 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of nail and bolt export prices was attained by China (+3.3% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
