Which Country Exports the Most Mandarins and Clementines in the World?

Global mandarin and clementine exports amounted to 4,821 thousand tonnes in 2015, lowering by -1.8% against the previous year level. Overall, the global mandarin and clementine exports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2009, when the output figure increased by +13% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global mandarin and clementine exports attained its maximum volume of 4,911 thousand tonnes in 2014, falling back in the following year.

In value terms, global exports amounted to $4,371 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global exports increased tangibly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +4.9%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Mandarin and Clementine Imports By Country

The country with the largest volume of the mandarin and clementine exports in absolute volumes was Spain (1,566 thousand tonnes), accounting for 32% of global exports. It was followed by China (696 thousand tonnes), with a share of 14% of global exports. Moreover, mandarin and clementine exports in Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest exporter, China, twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Turkey with a share of 12%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of mandarin and clementine exports in Spain stood at -1.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual growth rates: China (+7.2% per year) and Turkey (+10.2% per year).

In value terms, Spain (1,544 million USD), China (981 million USD) and Turkey (295 million USD) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2015, together accounting for 65% of total exports.

China (+24.3% per year) had the highest growth rates of mandarin and clementine exports among the main exporting countries over the last eight years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
