The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when it surged by 22% against the previous year level. Global lighting equipment export peaked in 2016, and are expected to retain its growth in the near future.

Lighting Equipment Exports By Country

In 2016, China (181K tonnes), followed by Mexico (106K tonnes), the U.S. (105K tonnes), Czech Republic (76K tonnes), Germany (72K tonnes), and South Korea (61K tonnes) represented the major exporters of lighting equipment, together comprising 54% of total exports. Spain (50K tonnes), Italy (43K tonnes), Slovakia (42K tonnes), France (41K tonnes), Poland (40K tonnes), and Japan (37K tonnes) followed a long way behind this figure.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of lighting equipment exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by Slovakia (+19.3% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($4.1B), Germany ($3.5B) and the U.S. ($2.5B) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2016, together comprising 36% of global exports.Mexico, Czech Republic, Japan, South Korea, France, Spain, Slovakia, Italy and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 42%.

South Korea (+20.1% per year) had the highest rates of growth with regard to the lighting equipment exports, among the main exporting countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Lighting Equipment Export Prices By Country

The average lighting equipment export price stood at $25 per kg in 2016, stabilizing at the previous year level. Over the period from 2007 to 2016 it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%.The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012, when it surged by 12% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average lighting equipment export price reached its maximum level of $27 per kg in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

Export prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest export prices was Germany ($49 per kg), while Poland ($16 per kg) was among the lowest.
