Which Country Exports the Most Chick Peas in the World?

Global chick peas exports amounted to 1,943 thousand tonnes in 2015, growing by +16.6% against the previous year level. Overall, the global chick peas exports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, was roller-coasting throughout the analyzed period. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +22.8% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008, when the output figure increased by +86% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global chick peas exports reached its maximum volume in 2015, and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, global exports amounted to $1,480 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global exports increased tangibly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +24.3%. This trend pattern, however, fluctuated wildly throughout the analyzed period.

Chick Peas Imports By Country

The country with the largest volume of the chick peas exports in absolute volumes was Australia (947 thousand tonnes), accounting for 49% of global exports. It was followed by Russia (326 thousand tonnes), with a share of 17% of global exports. Moreover, chick peas exports in Australia exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest exporter, Russia, threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by India with a share of 10%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of chick peas exports in Australia stood at +24.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual growth rates: Russia (+44.2% per year) and India (+13.2% per year).

In value terms, the country with the largest volume of exports of chick peas in absolute volumes was Australia (763 million USD), making up 52% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by India (173 million USD), with a share of 12% of global exports. Moreover, chick peas exports in Australia exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest importer, India (173 million USD), fourfold. It was followed by Russia with a share of 10%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of chick peas exports in Australia was at +29.8%. The remaining exporting countries experienced the following average annual growth rates: India (+14.9% per year) and Russia (+48.7% per year).
