Global bovine hide and skin exports amounted to 2,371 thousand tonnes in 2015, reducing by -7.4% against the previous year level. Overall, the global bovine hide and skin exports indicated a pronounced decline from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total export volume decreased at an average annual rate of -1.8% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010, when the output figure increased by +69% from the previous year level. In that year, the global bovine hide and skin exports attained its maximum volume of 3,506 thousand tonnes. From 2011 to 2015, the total bovine hide and skin exports growth failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, global exports amounted to $5,356 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global exports increased tangibly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +2.2%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Bovine Hide And Skin Imports By Country

The country with the largest volume of the bovine hide and skin exports in absolute volumes was the United States (618 thousand tonnes), accounting for 26% of global exports. It was followed by Australia (250 thousand tonnes), with a share of 11% of global exports. Moreover, bovine hide and skin exports in the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest exporter, Australia, twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Germany with a share of 7%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of bovine hide and skin exports in the United States stood at -5.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual growth rates: Australia (+5.2% per year) and Germany (+3.8% per year).

In value terms, the country with the largest volume of exports of bovine hide and skin in absolute volumes was the United States (1,772 million USD), making up 33% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Australia (444 million USD), with a share of 8% of global exports. Moreover, bovine hide and skin exports in the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest importer, Australia (444 million USD), fourfold. It was followed by France with a share of 7%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of bovine hide and skin exports in the United States was at 0.0%. The remaining exporting countries experienced the following average annual growth rates: Australia (+5.1% per year) and France (+0.4% per year).
