Which Country Exports the Most Boards and Consoles in the World?

In 2016, the global exports of board and console stood at 986K tonnes, picking up by 6% against the previous year figure. Overall, it indicated a strong growth from 2007 to 2016: the total exports volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011, when export increased by 22% y-o-y. Global board and console export peaked of 1M tonnes in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, board and console exports totaled $56B in 2016. Overall, it indicated a prominent growth from 2007 to 2016: the total exports value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on the result of 2016, board and console exports increased by +92.2% against its level of 2009. Over the period under review, global board and console exports attained its maximum level in 2016, and are likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

Board And Console Exports By Country

In 2016, China (137K tonnes), and Germany (124K tonnes) represented the major exporters of board and console in the globe, together mixed up 26% of total exports. The U.S. (74K tonnes) took the second position in the ranking, followed by South Korea (57K tonnes), and Mexico (54K tonnes). All these countries together took approx. 19% share of total exports. Japan (36K tonnes), Czech Republic (34K tonnes), France (34K tonnes), Hungary (31K tonnes), Turkey (31K tonnes), Italy (28K tonnes), and Poland (26K tonnes) held the mild share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of board and console exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by South Korea (+15.8% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($11B), China ($7B) and the U.S. ($5.4B) appeared as the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2016, with a combined 41% share of global exports.Mexico, Japan, Hungary, South Korea, France, Czech Republic, Italy, Poland and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.

South Korea (+20.1% per year) had the highest growth rate of board and console exports, among the main exporting countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Board And Console Export Prices By Country

The average board and console export price stood at $57 per kg in 2016, approximately reflecting the previous year level. Over the last nine years it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%.The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014, when it surged by 16% year-to-year. In that year, average board and console export price reached its maximum level of $58 per kg. From 2015 to 2016, growth of average board and console export price stood at a somewhat lower level.

Export prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest export prices was Germany ($85 per kg), while Turkey ($14 per kg) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of board and console export prices was attained by Mexico (+15.7% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
