In value terms, according to market research conducted by IndexBox, global tea production came up sharply from 2008 to 2013. After this period, the value flattened and amounted to X million USD in 2015.
China and India were the key world tea producing countries with an output of approximately X thousand tonnes and X thousand tonnes, respectively, in 2015, which accounted for X% of total global output. The other major producers were Kenya (X%), Sri Lanka (X%), Viet Nam (X%), Turkey (X%), and Iran (X%).
Most of the other major producing countries showed growth of tea output in physical terms. In 2008-2015, annual growth rates were especially high in China (+X%), India (+X%), and Kenya (+X%).
