The level of imports peaked at $963M in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The UK (54M litres), Germany (39M litres), France (28M litres), Latvia (21M litres) and Poland (17M litres) represented roughly 58% of total imports of vodka in 2018. Spain (11M litres), Lithuania (10M litres), the Netherlands (10M litres), Italy (9.3M litres), the Czech Republic (7.5M litres), Greece (7.4M litres) and Belgium (7M litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2008 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Italy, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the UK ($199M), France ($134M) and Germany ($127M) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2018, with a combined 48% share of total imports.
Import Prices by Country
The vodka import price in the European Union stood at $3,463 per thousand litres in 2018, lowering by -2.8% against the previous year. In general, the vodka import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
Import prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest import price was France ($4,873 per thousand litres), while Lithuania ($1,850 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From 2008 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of import prices was attained by Latvia, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
