US Electronic Connector Export Revenue Surges to $245M in February 2023
U.S. Electronic Connector Exports
After two months of growth, overseas shipments of electronic connectors decreased by -13.8% to 70M units in February 2023. In general, exports continue to indicate a mild reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 16% m-o-m. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 93M units. From April 2022 to February 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, electronic connector exports expanded notably to $245M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% from February 2022 to February 2023; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain months. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 26% m-o-m. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $264M. From April 2022 to February 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country
Mexico (25M units) was the main destination for electronic connector exports from the United States, with a 36% share of total exports. Moreover, electronic connector exports to Mexico exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (5.4M units), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by China (5M units), with a 7.2% share.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to Mexico was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: France (-1.2% per month) and China (-3.2% per month).
In value terms, Mexico ($72M) remains the key foreign market for electronic connector exports from the United States, comprising 29% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Canada ($15M), with a 6.2% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with a 5.4% share.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value to Mexico amounted to +3.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Canada (-0.5% per month) and China (-2.0% per month).
Export Prices by Country
In February 2023, the electronic connector price stood at $3.5 per unit (FOB, US), rising by 26% against the previous month. Over the period from February 2022 to February 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the UK ($8.9 per unit), while the average price for exports to France ($1.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
