Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3,377 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to November 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In November 2022, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($7,545 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($1,721 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In November 2022, shipments abroad of citrus fruit jams, marmalades, jellies, purees or pastes was finally on the rise to reach 400 tons for the first time since August 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. In general, total exports indicated a resilient increase from January 2022 to November 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +5.6% over the last ten months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on November 2022 figures, exports increased by +25.4% against October 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2022 with an increase of 89% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at 473 tons in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to November 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, citrus fruit preserves exports surged to $1.1M (IndexBox estimates) in November 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a perceptible expansion from January 2022 to November 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5% over the last ten months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on November 2022 figures, exports increased by +37.0% against September 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 with an increase of 86% m-o-m. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.5M. From March 2022 to November 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
United Kingdom Citrus Fruit Preserves Exports by Country
Germany (134 tons) was the main destination for citrus fruit preserves exports from the UK, accounting for a 34% share of total exports. Moreover, citrus fruit preserves exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (61 tons), twofold. Ireland (41 tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 10% share.
From January 2022 to November 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume to Germany totaled +13.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+25.9% per month) and Ireland (-1.7% per month).
In value terms, Germany ($323K) emerged as the key foreign market for citrus fruit preserves exports from the UK, comprising 29% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($145K), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Denmark, with a 9.9% share.
From January 2022 to November 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to Germany totaled +9.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+21.4% per month) and Denmark (+15.3% per month).
