China (73K tons) constituted the largest supplier of batteries to the U.S., accounting for 84% of total imports. Moreover, battery imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Singapore (13K tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Indonesia (11K tons), with a 13% share.
In value terms, China ($347M) constituted the largest supplier of batteries to the U.S., comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Singapore ($147M), with a 15% share of total supplies. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 6.8% share.
In 2020, the average battery import price amounted to $11,415 per ton, shrinking by -8% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Singapore, while the price for China was amongst the lowest. In 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
