Uncooked Pasta Price in Turkey Grows Slightly to $713 per Ton
Turkey Uncooked Pasta Export Price in December 2022
In December 2022, the uncooked pasta price stood at $713 per ton (FOB, Turkey), remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the last eleven months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 when the average export price increased by 9.9% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $769 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to December 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,232 per ton), while the average price for exports to Benin ($586 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Turkey Uncooked Pasta Exports
In December 2022, exports of uncooked pasta (not containing eggs) from Turkey totaled 107K tons, picking up by 4.5% against the previous month's figure. The total export volume increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1% from January 2022 to December 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 with an increase of 38% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 126K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to December 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, uncooked pasta exports expanded markedly to $76M (IndexBox estimates) in December 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2% from January 2022 to December 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 when exports increased by 44% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 83K tons in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to December 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Turkey Uncooked Pasta Exports by Country
Somalia (15K tons), Ghana (9.9K tons) and Togo (7.6K tons) were the main destinations of uncooked pasta exports from Turkey, with a combined 30% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Tanzania, Niger, Benin, Japan, Senegal, Congo, the United States, China, Yemen and Oman, which together accounted for a further 39%.
From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Oman (with a CAGR of +25.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for uncooked pasta exported from Turkey were Somalia ($9.1M), Ghana ($6.7M) and Japan ($4.7M), together accounting for 27% of total exports. Togo, Tanzania, the United States, Niger, Benin, Senegal, China, Congo, Yemen and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.
Oman, with a CAGR of +27.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
