Turkey's Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Machine Price Surges to $165 per Unit

Turkey Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Machine Import Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the motor vehicle air conditioning machine price amounted to $165 per unit (CIF, Turkey), increasing by 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a modest expansion from January 2022 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last eight months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, motor vehicle air conditioning machine import price increased by +19.8% against August 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 when the average import price increased by 38% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $242 per unit. From May 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($560 per unit), while the price for South Korea ($52.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Turkey Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Machine Imports

In September 2022, supplies from abroad of air conditioning machines for motor vehicles decreased by -9.2% to 21K units for the first time since April 2022, thus ending a four-month rising trend. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 with an increase of 49% m-o-m. Imports peaked at 23K units in August 2022, and then shrank in the following month.

In value terms, motor vehicle air conditioning machine imports stood at $3.4M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 with an increase of 76% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in September 2022.

Turkey Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Machine Imports by Country

China (7.5K units), Italy (4.4K units) and Germany (2.7K units) were the main suppliers of motor vehicle air conditioning machine imports to Turkey, with a combined 71% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, South Korea, Poland, the United States and Canada, which together accounted for a further 27%.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +162.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest motor vehicle air conditioning machine suppliers to Turkey were China ($971K), Italy ($844K) and Germany ($599K), together comprising 71% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, the United States, Poland, South Korea and Canada, which together accounted for a further 26%.

Air conditioning machines for motor vehicle prices in Turkey can vary depending on a number of factors. The type of vehicle, the brand, and the size of the air conditioner are just a few of these variables. In general, however, prices for air conditioners in Turkey tend to be lower than in other countries. This is due, in part, to the fact that Turkey is a major manufacturer of air conditioners. As such, there is a lot of competition among brands and this keeps prices down.

Another factor that contributes to lower prices is the climate. Turkey tends to be a hot country and so air conditioners are in high demand. This means that there is a good market for air conditioners and this keeps prices relatively low.
