U.S. Turkey Meat Price per Ton May 2022
The turkey meat price per ton stood at $2,860 (FOB, US) in May 2022, waning by -4.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in Apr 2022 an increase of 1% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $3,172 per ton in Feb 2022; however, from Mar 2022 to May 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In May 2022, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($4,192 per ton), while the average price for exports to Benin ($1,129 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From Jan 2022 to May 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Dominican Republic (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

U.S. Turkey Meat Exports
In May 2022, exports of turkey meat from the United States skyrocketed to 13K tons, increasing by 38% on the previous month. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, turkey meat exports soared to $36M (IndexBox estimates) in May 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. The exports peaked at $39M in Jan 2022; however, from Feb 2022 to May 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
U.S. Turkey Meat Exports by Country
Mexico (8.2K tons) was the main destination for turkey meat exports from the United States, accounting for a 65% share of total exports. Moreover, turkey meat exports to Mexico exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Benin (690 tons), more than tenfold. Jamaica (421 tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.4% share.
From Jan 2022 to May 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume to Mexico totaled -2.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Benin (+32.4% per month) and Jamaica (+1.9% per month).
In value terms, Mexico ($25M) remains the key foreign market for turkey meat exports from the United States, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Dominican Republic ($1.2M), with a 3.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Jamaica, with a 2.4% share.
From Jan 2022 to May 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value to Mexico amounted to -3.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: the Dominican Republic (+7.1% per month) and Jamaica (-0.4% per month).
