Manuka Price in Turkey Increases Notably to $3,076 per Ton
Turkey Manuka Export Price in January 2023
In January 2023, the manuka price stood at $3,076 per ton (FOB, Turkey), increasing by 9.8% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2022 when the average export price increased by 30% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,098 per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to January 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In January 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($6,170 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($1,830 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Turkey Manuka Exports
Manuka exports from Turkey shrank markedly to 1.1K tons in January 2023, reducing by -33.6% on December 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 when exports increased by 56% against the previous month.
In value terms, manuka exports reduced remarkably to $3.3M (IndexBox estimates) in January 2023. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when exports increased by 65% against the previous month.
Turkey Manuka Exports by Country
Israel (477 tons), the United States (245 tons) and Italy (65 tons) were the main destinations of manuka exports from Turkey, together accounting for 73% of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Poland, the UK, Saudi Arabia and Spain, which together accounted for a further 23%.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +109.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for manuka exported from Turkey were Israel ($1.3M), the United States ($768K) and Germany ($370K), together accounting for 73% of total exports. the UK, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Bulgaria and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.
Among the main countries of destination, Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +107.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
