France (28K tonnes) ranks second in terms of the global exports with a 6.7% share, followed by Belgium (5%). Ireland (16K tonnes), the Netherlands (13K tonnes), Bulgaria (9.2K tonnes), Denmark (8.4K tonnes), Spain (8.2K tonnes) and the Czech Republic (7K tonnes) took the weak share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Slovakia (+19.3% per year), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($361M), Poland ($359M) and the UK ($277M) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2017, together comprising 49% of total exports. Slovakia, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Ireland, Denmark, Spain, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 42%.

Export Prices by Country

The toothpaste export price in the European Union stood at $4.9 per kg in 2017, growing by 3.4% against the previous year. The the toothpaste export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011, an increase of 10% y-o-y. In that year, the export prices for toothpaste, denture cleaners and other dentifrices reached their peak level of $6.1 per kg. From 2012 to 2017, the growth in terms of the export prices for toothpaste, denture cleaners and other dentifrices failed to regain its momentum.

There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2017, the country with the highest import price was Sweden ($5.9 per kg), while Spain ($3.4 per kg) was amongst the lowest.
