Marble and Travertine Price in Spain Reduces 9%, Averaging $227 per Ton
Spain Marble And Travertine Export Price in November 2022
In November 2022, the marble and travertine price stood at $227 per ton (FOB, Spain), with a decrease of -8.7% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated mild growth from January 2022 to November 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9% over the last ten-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on November 2022 figures, marble and travertine export price increased by +25.1% against August 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 when the average export price increased by 56% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $324 per ton. From May 2022 to November 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($669 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($119 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Algeria (+15.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In November 2022, the amount of marble and travertine exported from Spain skyrocketed to 22K tons, rising by 27% against October 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2022 with an increase of 99% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 26K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to November 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, marble and travertine exports surged to $4.9M (IndexBox estimates) in November 2022. In general, total exports indicated mild growth from January 2022 to November 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last ten months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on November 2022 figures, exports increased by +142.4% against August 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 when exports increased by 99% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at 5.6K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to November 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Spain Marble And Travertine Exports by Country
Egypt (9.4K tons), China (5.3K tons) and Morocco (2.1K tons) were the main destinations of marble and travertine exports from Spain, with a combined 78% share of total exports. These countries were followed by France, India, Jordan, Colombia, Italy and Hong Kong SAR, which together accounted for a further 18%.
From January 2022 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +8.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Egypt ($1.1M), China ($1.1M) and France ($529K) constituted the largest markets for marble and travertine exported from Spain worldwide, with a combined 56% share of total exports. Morocco, India, Italy, Colombia, Jordan and Hong Kong SAR lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 27%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, India, with a CAGR of +9.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
