U.S. Soup Price Averages $2.6 per kg, Remaining Relatively Stable this Year
U.S. Soups Export Price per Ton August 2022
In August 2022, the soups price per ton amounted to $2.6 per kg, increasing by 4.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 an increase of 11% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in August 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($3.4 per kg), while the average price for exports to Canada ($1.9 per kg) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jamaica (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
U.S. Soups Exports
In August 2022, exports of soups and broths from the United States expanded notably to 23K tons, picking up by 7.7% on the previous month's figure. The total export volume increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the period from January 2022 to August 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 36% month-to-month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 27K tons. From April 2022 to August 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, soups exports stood at $61M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8% over the period from January 2022 to August 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain months. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 30% against the previous month. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $63M. From April 2022 to August 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
U.S. Soups Exports by Country
Canada (12K tons), Mexico (8.9K tons) and Jamaica (362 tons) were the main destinations of soups exports from the United States, together comprising 91% of total exports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in Jamaica (with a CAGR of +10.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for soups exported from the United States were Mexico ($30M), Canada ($23M) and Jamaica ($964K), together accounting for 89% of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Jamaica, with a CAGR of +13.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
