From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of the powdered milk per capita consumption in Uruguay totaled +X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (+X% per year) and Argentina (+X% per year).

Brazil (X tonnes) remains the largest powdered milk producing country in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising approx. X% of total production. Moreover, powdered milk production in Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the region's second-largest producer, Argentina (X tonnes), threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Uruguay (X tonnes), with a X% share.

In 2018, Argentina (X tonnes), Uruguay (X tonnes) and Chile (X tonnes) were the key exporters of powdered milk in Latin America and the Caribbean, constituting X% of total export. Over the period under review, the export prices for powdered milk attained their peak figure at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Nicaragua ($X per tonne), while Argentina ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, powdered milk imports decreased by -X% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of imports peaked at X tonnes in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2018, imports remained at a lower figure.

Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing importer in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2018. The Dominican Republic experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Cuba (-X%) and Venezuela (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
