In value terms, Canada ($X) also remains the key foreign market for potato exports from the U.S., comprising X% of total potato exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Mexico ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Taiwan, Chinese, with a X% share.
Export Prices by Country
The average potato export price stood at $X per tonne in 2017, jumping by X% against the previous year. Overall, the potato export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
Average export prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2017, the countries of destination with the highest prices were the Philippines ($X per tonne) and Malaysia ($X per tonne), while the average prices for exports to South Korea ($X per tonne) and Canada ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of export prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+X% per year), while the export prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2017, approx. X tonnes of potatoes were imported into the U.S.; going up by X% against the previous year. In value terms, potato imports totaled $X (IndexBox estimates) in 2017.
Imports by Country
In 2017, Canada (X tonnes) was the main supplier of potato to the U.S., accounting for an approx. X% share of total imports; in value terms, those supplies totaled $X. From 2007 to 2017, imports from Canada fluctuated noticeably, but finally, the volume of 2017 remained relatively unchanged against its outset figure.
Import Prices by Country
The average potato import price stood at $X per tonne in 2017, flattening at the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by import prices for Canada.
