Mdf consumption, however, continues to indicate a strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008, when it surged by X% against the previous year. The level of mdf consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2017, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Production in Asia
In 2017, approx. X cubic meters of mdf were produced in Asia; coming down by -X% against the previous year. Mdf production, however, continues to indicate a prominent growth.
Exports in Asia
In 2017, the amount of mdf exported in Asia amounted to X cubic meters, remaining constant against the previous year. The total exports indicated a significant expansion from 2007 to 2017: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2017 figures, the mdf exports decreased by -X% against 2014 indices.
In value terms, mdf exports amounted to $X (IndexBox estimates) in 2017.
Exports by Country
China was the major exporting country with an export of around X cubic meters, which finished at X% of total exports. Thailand (X cubic meters) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Turkey (X cubic meters), Malaysia (X cubic meters) and Indonesia (X cubic meters). All these countries together occupied approx. X% share of total exports. Vietnam (X cubic meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2007 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Vietnam, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest mdf supplier in Asia, comprising X% of total mdf exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Thailand ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a X% share.
Export Prices by Country
The mdf export price in Asia stood at $X per cubic meter in 2017, approximately mirroring the previous year. The mdf export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
Export prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest export price was Malaysia ($X per cubic meter), while Thailand ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of export prices was attained by Malaysia, while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Imports in Asia
In 2017, the amount of mdf imported in Asia totaled X cubic meters, coming down by -X% against the previous year. The total imports indicated a moderate growth from 2007 to 2017: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2017 figures, the mdf imports decreased by -X% against 2014 indices.
In value terms, mdf imports amounted to $X (IndexBox estimates) in 2017.
Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of mdf imports in 2017 were Iran (X cubic meters), Japan (X cubic meters), Saudi Arabia (X cubic meters), India (X cubic meters), Uzbekistan (X cubic meters), the United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters), Vietnam (X cubic meters), China (X cubic meters), Iraq (X cubic meters), Israel (X cubic meters), Indonesia (X cubic meters) and Kazakhstan (X cubic meters), together finishing at X% of total import.

In value terms, Japan ($X), Iran ($X) and China ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2017, with a combined X% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Saudi Arabia, India, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Israel, Iraq, Kazakhstan and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further X%.
Import Prices by Country
In 2017, the mdf import price in Asia amounted to $X per cubic meter, growing by X% against the previous year. The mdf import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2017, the country with the highest import price was China ($X per cubic meter), while India ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of import prices was attained by China, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
