Concrete Tile Cost in Italy Reaches $869 per Ton

Italy Concrete Tile Export Price in December 2022

In December 2022, the concrete tile price amounted to $869 per ton (FOB, Italy), rising by 18% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,643 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($202 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Italy Concrete Tile Export Prices by Type

Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone ($944 per ton), while the average price for exports of building blocks and bricks of cement, concrete or artificial stone stood at $620 per ton.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: building blocks and bricks of cement, concrete or artificial stone (+5.0%).

Italy Concrete Tile Exports

In December 2022, the amount of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone exported from Italy dropped rapidly to 18K tons, waning by -23.1% on the previous month's figure. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 with an increase of 32% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 35K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to December 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concrete tile exports reduced to $16M (IndexBox estimates) in December 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2022 with an increase of 34% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 22K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to December 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Italy Concrete Tile Exports by Type

Tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone (14K tons) was the largest type of concrete tile exported from Italy, accounting for a 77% share of total exports. Moreover, tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone exceeded the volume of the second product type, building blocks and bricks of cement, concrete or artificial stone (4.2K tons), threefold.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone totaled -1.5%.

In value terms, tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone ($13M) remains the largest type of concrete tile exported from Italy, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by building blocks and bricks of cement, concrete or artificial stone ($2.6M), with a 17% share of total exports.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of tiles, flagstones and similar articles of cement, concrete or artificial stone was relatively modest.

Italy Concrete Tile Exports by Country

Germany (2.7K tons), South Korea (2.1K tons) and France (1.7K tons) were the main destinations of concrete tile exports from Italy, with a combined 36% share of total exports.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the biggest increases were in South Korea (with a CAGR of +15.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($1.9M), South Korea ($1.9M) and the United States ($1.6M) constituted the largest markets for concrete tile exported from Italy worldwide, with a combined 35% share of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, South Korea, with a CAGR of +18.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
