Quinoa Price in India Soars 93% to $3.1K Per Ton
India Quinoa Export Price per Ton in July 2022
In July 2022, the quinoa price per ton stood at $3.1K (FOB, India), rising by 93% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 199% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5.5K per ton. From June 2022 to July 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($13.8K per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($1.3K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+14.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
India Quinoa Exports
In July 2022, the amount of quinoa exported from India reduced rapidly to 45 tons, shrinking by -53.8% compared with June 2022 figures. Overall, exports, however, saw a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2022 when exports increased by 1,233% m-o-m. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 97 tons, and then reduced dramatically in the following month.
In value terms, quinoa exports shrank to $138K (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2022 with an increase of 289% m-o-m. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $155K, and then reduced in the following month.
India Quinoa Exports by Country
Slovenia (20 tons) was the main destination for quinoa exports from India, accounting for a 45% share of total exports. Moreover, quinoa exports to Slovenia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (8.1 tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Georgia (8 tons), with an 18% share.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to Slovenia was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+33.2% per month) and Georgia (0.0% per month).
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($46K), Saudi Arabia ($28K) and Slovenia ($26K) constituted the largest markets for quinoa exported from India worldwide, together comprising 72% of total exports.
the United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +52.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
