India's Printing Component Price Drops Modestly to $5,402 per Ton
India Printing Components Import Price in July 2022
In July 2022, the printing components price stood at $5,402 per ton (CIF, India), which is down by -6.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 an increase of 1.5% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,144 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to July 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2022, the countries with the highest prices were China ($5,291 per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($5,031 per ton), while the price for Spain ($4,963 per ton) and Sri Lanka ($5,016 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sri Lanka (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
India Printing Components Imports
In July 2022, the amount of printing components imported into India skyrocketed to 1.5K tons, growing by 31% compared with June 2022. Overall, imports saw a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2022 with an increase of 46% m-o-m. Imports peaked in July 2022.
In value terms, printing components imports surged to $8.2M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 when imports increased by 42% m-o-m. Imports peaked in July 2022.
India Printing Components Imports by Country
In July 2022, China (1.3K tons) constituted the largest supplier of printing components to India, with a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, printing components imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Sri Lanka (108 tons), more than tenfold. Spain (87 tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.7% share.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +29.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Sri Lanka (-6.9% per month) and Spain (+5.2% per month).
In value terms, China ($6.9M) constituted the largest supplier of printing components to India, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sri Lanka ($540K), with a 6.5% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 5.3% share.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +25.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Sri Lanka (-7.1% per month) and Spain (+3.7% per month).
