The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when imports increased by 64% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 120K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to November 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

India Nucleic Acids Imports by Type

In November 2022, nucleic acids and their salts, other heterocyclic compounds, n.e.c. in heading number 2934 (1.6K tons) constituted the largest type of nucleic acids supplied to India, accounting for a 69% share of total imports. Moreover, nucleic acids and their salts, other heterocyclic compounds, n.e.c. in heading number 2934 exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, heterocyclic compounds; containing an unfused thiazole ring (whether or not hydrogenated) in the structure (502 tons), threefold. Heterocyclic compounds; containing a benzothiazole ring-system (whether or not hydrogenated), not further fused (239 tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 10% share.

From January 2022 to November 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of import of nucleic acids and their salts, other heterocyclic compounds, n.e.c. in heading number 2934 stood at -3.2%. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: heterocyclic compounds; containing an unfused thiazole ring (whether or not hydrogenated) in the structure (+1.1% per month) and heterocyclic compounds; containing a benzothiazole ring-system (whether or not hydrogenated), not further fused (-9.8% per month).

In value terms, nucleic acids and their salts, other heterocyclic compounds, n.e.c. in heading number 2934 ($79M) constituted the largest type of nucleic acids supplied to India, comprising 93% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by heterocyclic compounds; containing an unfused thiazole ring (whether or not hydrogenated) in the structure ($5M), with a 5.8% share of total imports. It was followed by heterocyclic compounds; containing a benzothiazole ring-system (whether or not hydrogenated), not further fused, with a 1.5% share.

India Nucleic Acids Imports by Country

India's Nucleic Acid Industry Sees Slight Drop in Prices

India's nucleic acid industry faced significant fluctuations in 2022 with prices rising and falling unpredictably. However, the latest data shows that nucleic acid prices have dropped slightly. While the decline in price may seem small, it is a significant development for businesses operating in the sector.

The price drop can be attributed to various factors such as changes in demand, fluctuations in the global market, and potentially, increased competition. Despite the volatile year, the nucleic acid market remains robust and growth opportunities continue to abound.
