India's Honey Price Drops 6%, Averaging $2,508 per Ton
India Honey Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the honey price amounted to $2,508 per ton (FOB, India), declining by -6.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when the average export price increased by 6.4% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $2,840 per ton in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to September 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,666 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates totaled $1,422 per ton.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (-0.9%).
India Honey Exports
In September 2022, overseas shipments of honey decreased by -22.5% to 6.1K tons, falling for the third month in a row after three months of growth. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 when exports increased by 44% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 9.2K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, honey exports fell sharply to $15M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 with an increase of 54% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 25K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
India Honey Exports by Country
the United States (5K tons) was the main destination for honey exports from India, accounting for a 83% share of total exports. Moreover, honey exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (563 tons), ninefold.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States was relatively modest.
In value terms, the United States ($13M) remains the key foreign market for honey exports from India, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($800K), with a 5.3% share of total exports.
