Record High Prices for Bleached Sulphate Pulp in India Driven by Global Demand for Eco-Friendly Packaging
The bleached sulphate pulp price in India has hit a new record high due to a variety of global factors. One of the biggest reasons is the increasing demand for eco-friendly packaging in developed economies, such as Europe and North America. Additionally, the supply of raw materials, such as wood chips and pulp logs, has been disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in higher production costs.
India, being one of the largest consumers of bleached sulphate pulp, has faced a significant impact. The country depends on imports for most of its demand, and with the rise in global prices, Indian pulp mills are forced to pay more. However, this price hike could also benefit the Indian pulp industry as it may lead to increased investment in domestic production and promote growth in the sector. While consumers may have to bear the brunt of higher prices, Indian pulp manufacturers could potentially benefit from this new high.
