U.S. Hearing Aid Import Price June 2022

In June 2022, the average hearing aid import price amounted to $205 per unit, jumping by 27% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $210 per unit in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to June 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($470 per unit), while the price for Mexico ($102 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

U.S. Hearing Aid Imports

Hearing aid imports into the United States contracted to 795K units in June 2022, with a decrease of -9.2% against May 2022 figures. The total import volume increased at an average monthly rate of +5.2% from January 2022 to June 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 when imports increased by 22% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 876K units in May 2022, and then fell in the following month.

In value terms, hearing aid imports skyrocketed to $163M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +5.8% over the period from January 2022 to June 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 when imports increased by 21% m-o-m. Imports peaked at $180M in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to June 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

U.S. Hearing Aid Imports by Country

Mexico (270K units), China (173K units) and Vietnam (101K units) were the main suppliers of hearing aid imports to the United States, with a combined 68% share of total imports.

From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +12.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Vietnam ($30M), Mexico ($27M) and China ($26M) appeared to be the largest hearing aid suppliers to the United States, with a combined 51% share of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, China, with a CAGR of +25.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
