From 2007 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by the Netherlands (+7.9% per year), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($2.2B) remains the largest hand tools supplier in the European Union, comprising 36% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the Netherlands ($556M), with a 9% share of global exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 7.9% share.

Export Prices by Country


The hand tools export price in the European Union stood at $15 per kg in 2017, rising by 3.1% against the previous year. The the hand tools export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.

Sweden (25K tonnes), the Czech Republic (24K tonnes) and Romania (17K tonnes) took the minor share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by the Czech Republic (+2.6% per year), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($1.5B), the UK ($824M) and France ($803M) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2017, with a combined 42% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Spain, Austria, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Romania, which together accounted for a further 45%.

Import Prices by Country


In 2017, the hand tools import price in the European Union amounted to $9.1 per kg, leveling off at the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%.

Import prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest import price was Sweden ($11 per kg), while Romania ($6.5 per kg) was amongst the lowest.
