U.S. Goat Meat Import Price per Ton June 2022
In June 2022, the goat meat price per ton stood at $7,159 (CIF, US), remaining constant against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when the average import price increased by 1.2% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $7,166 per ton in April 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to June 2022.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($8,075 per ton), while the price for Australia ($7,036 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Goat Meat Imports
In June 2022, purchases abroad of goat meat decreased by -29% to 1.9K tons, falling for the second consecutive month after two months of growth. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 with an increase of 59% month-to-month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 3.2K tons. From May 2022 to June 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, goat meat imports reduced markedly to $14M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 with an increase of 60% month-to-month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $23M. From May 2022 to June 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
U.S. Goat Meat Imports by Country
In June 2022, Australia (1.7K tons) constituted the largest supplier of goat meat to the United States, accounting for a 88% share of total imports. Moreover, goat meat imports from Australia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mexico (198 tons), eightfold.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Australia amounted to -8.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Mexico (+1.1% per month) and New Zealand (-14.7% per month).
In value terms, Australia ($12M) constituted the largest supplier of goat meat to the United States, comprising 86% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mexico ($1.6M), with a 12% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from Australia totaled -8.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Mexico (+1.8% per month) and New Zealand (-13.0% per month).
