Germany's Plough Price Drops Slightly to $2,710 per Unit After Two Consecutive Months of Decline
Germany Plough Export Price in February 2023
In February 2023, the plough price amounted to $2,710 per unit, therefore (FOB, Germany), remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period from February 2022 to February 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2022 an increase of 16% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2.8M per thousand units. From July 2022 to February 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,640 per unit), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($763 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Germany Plough Exports
In February 2023, overseas shipments of ploughs for agricultural purposes were finally on the rise to reach 2.3K units for the first time since November 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. In general, total exports indicated slight growth from February 2022 to February 2023: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on February 2023 figures, exports decreased by -36.8% against November 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 63% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 3.7K units in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to February 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plough exports soared to $6.3M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. Overall, total exports indicated a tangible increase from February 2022 to February 2023: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on February 2023 figures, exports decreased by -34.4% against December 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 67% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 9.6M units in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to February 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Germany Plough Exports by Country
France (472 units), China (289 units) and Russia (207 units) were the main destinations of plough exports from Germany, together comprising 42% of total exports. Ukraine, the UK, Romania, Poland, Chile, the Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Serbia, the United States and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Serbia (with a CAGR of +17.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($1.2M) remains the key foreign market for plough exports from Germany, comprising 19% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($562K), with a 9% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with an 8.1% share.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value to France stood at +2.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Russia (+6.9% per month) and China (+0.9% per month).
