Plastic Bottle Price in Germany Picks up 3%, Averaging at $6,293 per Ton
Germany Plastic Bottle Export Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the plastic bottle price per ton stood at $6,293 (FOB, Germany), growing by 2.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 when the average export price increased by 19% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $7,007 per ton. From April 2022 to August 2022, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($13,430 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($3,703 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Germany Plastic Bottle Exports
In September 2022, shipments abroad of carboys, bottles and similar articles of plastics decreased by -87.4% to 1.4K tons, falling for the third consecutive month after three months of growth. In general, exports recorded a sharp decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2022 with an increase of 29% month-to-month.
In value terms, plastic bottle exports dropped rapidly to $15M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2022 with an increase of 19% against the previous month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $88M. From March 2022 to September 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Germany Plastic Bottle Exports by Country
The Netherlands (1.7K tons), France (1.6K tons) and Belgium (1.4K tons) were the main destinations of plastic bottle exports from Germany, together accounting for 42% of total exports. Poland, Austria, Denmark, the UK, Switzerland, Italy, the Czech Republic, the United States, Spain and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 48%.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in Denmark (with a CAGR of +16.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($9.2M), the Netherlands ($9.2M) and Belgium ($6.6M) constituted the largest markets for plastic bottle exported from Germany worldwide, with a combined 36% share of total exports. the UK, Poland, Switzerland, the United States, Italy, Austria, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Spain and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 49%.
Among the main countries of destination, Denmark, with a CAGR of +9.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
