Germany’s Microscope Price Averages $4,220 per Unit, Still Lower than Its Maximum in Q1

Germany Microscope Export Price in August 2022

In August 2022, the microscope price stood at $4,220 per unit (FOB, Germany), with a decrease of -3.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 an increase of 26% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5.3M per thousand units; afterwards, it flattened through to August 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Israel ($8,061 per unit), while the average price for exports to the United States ($2,095 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+16.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Germany Microscope Exports

In August 2022, approximately 5.3K units of microscopes and diffraction apparatus were exported from Germany; increasing by 5.6% on July 2022 figures. Overall, total exports indicated a prominent increase from January 2022 to August 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +9.8% over the last seven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, exports increased by +27.5% against June 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when exports increased by 37% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in August 2022.

In value terms, microscope exports amounted to $22M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from January 2022 to August 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +10.7% over the last seven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, exports decreased by -7.8% against March 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 53% month-to-month. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $24M. From April 2022 to August 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany Microscope Exports by Country

China (1.7K units) was the main destination for microscope exports from Germany, with a 33% share of total exports. Moreover, microscope exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Israel (853 units), twofold. the United States (821 units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 16% share.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume to China totaled +18.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Israel (+4.8% per month) and the United States (+22.2% per month).

In value terms, China ($7.3M), Israel ($6.9M) and South Korea ($1.8M) appeared to be the largest markets for microscope exported from Germany worldwide, with a combined 72% share of total exports. the United States, Hong Kong SAR, Switzerland, Malaysia and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.

Among the main countries of destination, Switzerland, with a CAGR of +173.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
